LEONARD BERNSTEIN (Composer)

was a world renowned musician throughout his entire adult life.  He was Music Director of the New York Philharmonic and  conducted the world’s major orchestras recording hundreds of these performances.  His books and the televised  Young People’s Concerts  with the New York Philharmonic established him as a leading educator.  His compositions include Jeremiah, The Age of Anxiety, Kaddish, Serenade, Five Anniversaries, Mass, Chichester Psalms, Slava!, Songfest, Divertimento for Orchestra, Missa Brevis, Arias and  Barcarolles, Concerto for Orchestra and A Quiet Place.  Bernstein composed for the Broadway musical stage, including  On the Town, WonderfulTown, Candide and the immensely popular West Side Story.  In addition  to the West Side Story  collaboration, Mr. Bernstein worked with choreographer Jerome Robbins on three major ballets, Fancy Free, Facsimile and Dybbk.  Mr. Bernstein was the recipient of many honors, including, the Antoinette Perry Tony Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Theater,  eleven Emmy Award, the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award and the Kennedy Center Honors.

BETTY COMDEN and ADOLPH GREEN (Book and Lyrics)

The team of Betty Comden and Adolph Green, the longest running creative partnership in theatre history, began writing and performing their own satirical comic material in a group called The Revuers, which included the late Judy Holliday. They went on to collaborate with Leonard Bernstein and Jerome Robbins on what was the first show for all of them, On The Town. Also with Mr. Bernstein they did the score for Wonderful Town. With Jule Styne they wrote the book and/or lyrics for Bells Are Ringing, Hallelujah, Baby, Do Re Mi, Subways Are For Sleeping, Peter Pan, and others, wrote the book for Applause, and book and lyrics for On The Twentieth Century and A Doll's Life. Four of these, Applause, Hallelujah, Baby, Wonderful Town, and On The Twentieth Century, won them five Tony Awards, and A Doll's Life, a Tony nomination. Their many film musicals include Singin' in the Rain, which has been internationally acclaimed as one of the best films of all time, also The Band Wagon, On The Town, Bells Are Ringing, It's Always Fair Weather, Good News, and The Barkleys of Broadway. Two of these, The Band Wagon and It's Always Fair Weather, received Academy Award Nominations, and those two plus On The Town won the Screen Writer's Award.

DAN MOJICA (Director)

returns to REPRISE! having choreographed last season’s production of PIPPIN. Currently the Artistic Director/Choreographer of “The Top Hats” - the “quintessential American chorus line” for Caruso Affiliated, this new group will premiere at The Grove’s Season of Wishes Christmas Show in November. Other projects include the soon to be released Joel Zwick film Elvis Has Left the Building, starring Kim Bassinger and John Corbett. As part of the original Broadway creative team, Mr. Mojica was associated with Disney's Broadway musical, Beauty and the Beast (Associate Director / Associate Choreographer) for over eight years. In that time, he mounted, staged, and supervised all 16 companies of the show around the world, with productions premiering in London, Tokyo, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Stuttgart, Sydney, and three US National Tours. He has directed and/or choreographed productions of Victor Victoria (1st National Tour) w/ Toni Tennille, Singin' in the Rain (Seoul), Cabaret w/ Sam Harris, Hello, Dolly! w/ Jo Anne Worley,  The Music Man w/ John Davidson, Dreamgirls, Damn Yankees, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Enter the Guardsman for The Old Globe Theatre, Anything Goes (2003 Ovation Award/Best Musical) for REPRISE!, and over 17 productions for the Sacramento Music Circus. He choreographed The Disney Channel television special for the premiere of the animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the live stage show for the Disney/Pixar film, The Incredibles at the El Capitan Theatre, the world premiere of Flavia and the Dream Maker (Access Theatre) based on Flavia Weedn’s popular storybook greeting cards, and The Great American Songbook w/ Michael Feinstein at The Mark Taper Forum. LEE MARTINO (Choreographer)

is thrilled to be back at REPRISE! after directing/choreographing their concert at the Ford Theatre and choreographing Brigadoon.  Recent work: a corporate show for Harley – Davidson,  Los Angeles’ first Human AIDS Ribbon at Dodger Stadium’s Annual Strike Out AIDS Night, Guys and Dolls (Musical Theatre West), Grease (CLOSBC), The Wild Party (MTG).  Her work was seen on NBC’s “Hit Me Baby One More Time” for CeCe Peniston.  She was recently nominated for three Ovation Awards for Side By Side By Sondheim (Pasadena Playhouse, Rubicon Theatre), Brigadoon (REPRISE!), Phantom  (Performance Riverside).   Other credits include excerpts from the King and I (Hollywood Bowl), starring Lynn Redgrave and Patrick Stuart, Man of La Mancha starring Robert Goulet, the opening of the Hobby Performing Arts Center in Houston for Theatre Under the Stars hosted by former President George Bush, Disney International’s Latin American Tour, A Dream is a Wish, A Tribute To Jerry Herman starring Angela Lansbury and Carol Channing, the animated feature King and I for Warner Brothers, Ford Motor Company’s opening ceremonies for Ford Field starring Gladys Knight and Deborah Gibson, the Gala Opening of Spa Resort Casino starring Natalie Cole and Ruben Studdard.  Lee choreographs for Children’s Hospital of Orange County (a benefit show that to date has raised over 2.5 million dollars) and has also done several  Actor’s Fund Benefits and S.T.A.G.E. Benefits.  Awards include Drama Logue, Backstage West, A Robby Award, The Inland Empire Awards and The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for her work in Cabaret for West Coast Ensemble.  Lee holds a MFA in dance and is a member of SSDC.  Much love and thanks to a very talented cast, crew and staff, especially Dan, Jerry, Marcia and Jim. 

GERALD STERNBACH (Music Director)

was Peter Matz’s associate for fourteen shows. Now in his third season as musical director, he has received four Theater LA Ovation and two LA Drama Critics nominations; recent LA Philharmonic debut at the Hollywood Bowl as on-stage pianist for “Stephen Sondheim’s 75th Birthday-The Concert”, also assisting Paul Gemignani; assisted John Mauceri rehearsing the summer Bowl musicals The Music Man, My Fair Lady, Mame and Camelot; associate conductor for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Merlin and The Tap Dance Kid (all Broadway), Les Miserables (L.A. premiere company), conducted the national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song and Dance (starring Melissa Manchester). Other credits: accompanying Marilyn Horne and Florence Henderson in benefit recitals for P.A.C.E. and the Music Academy of the West (the latter also joined by Carol Burnett); musical direction for Two On The Aisle, the music of Harry Warren and Marvin Hamlisch (for STAGE-2005), The Perfect Year (for STAGE-2004), honoring the music of Sir Andrew, and Something Wonderful (for the Actor's Fund-2002), honoring the music of Richard Rodgers, each directed by David Galligan); the club acts for Jason Graae, Donna McKechnie, As a songwriter/composer-- ASCAP Rising Songwriter Showcases on both coasts, Cabaret Conventions at New York’s Town Hall, the Hollywood Roosevelt’s Cinegrill; music and songs (in collaboration with Lindy Robbins) performed in the ‘93-’98 editions of the Ringling Brothers’ Circus . the musicals Heartbeats (in collaboration with Amanda McBroom) The Gay 90’s – Looking Back and Moving On and Vampire Virgins from Venus.  This last spring, Gerald’s song “Mary” (written in collaboration with Faye Greenberg)--a paean to The Mary Tyler Moore Show was performed on the TV Land Awards show by Eric McCormack-- in the presence of the original cast of the landmark sitcom.

BRADLEY KAYE (Scenic Design)

Past productions include REPRISE!’s Pippin, CompanyOn the Twentieth Century, Anything Goes, Three Penny Opera and Bells Are Ringing.  He has been working in and around the LA theatre scene for the past decade, at theatres ranging from Interact and ICT, to Tiffany and the Coronet.  In addition, he has had shows open (and close) Off-Broadway, on the road and out on the open seas. Recent ones include Forbidden Broadway (95-05) in NYC, productions for Norwegian Caribbean and Disney Cruise Lines (The Golden Mickeys), plus 2 shows for Hollywood Bowl (Mame, Mass).  This past summer, he opened the Block Party Bash, a daytime Parade/ Street Show for Disney’s California Adventure, along with The Golden Mickeys for the new Hong Kong Disneyland, with his work now being seen in California, Japan and Hong Kong.  Acknowledgements include the LADCC’s Lifetime Achievement in Design, along with recognitions over the years from Backstage West and others.  A special thanks to Ted for sticking thru all the overseas travel, and for just being there.

MIRENA RADA (Costume Design)

credits: Avenue Q (Broadway and Las Vegas); Big Apple Circus' Picturesque, Dreams of a City, Carnevale; Collected Stories with Uta Hagen; Disneyland's Block Party Bash Parade; Pera Palas (Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Costume Design); Ballet Tech's Lincoln Portrait; Moonlight with Jason Robards and Liev Schreiber; 2004 Irene Sharaff Young Master in Costume Design Award.  Recently moved to Los Angeles from New York, and thanks her husband Anton and son Atom, who remind her daily about what is important in life.

TOM RUZIKA (Lighting Design)

has created designs for twenty-four REPRISE! productions including Applause, Sweeney Todd, Mack & Mabel and Hair.  He designed the acclaimed production of Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks at the Belasco Theatre on Broadway, the Geffen Playhouse and the Coconut Grove Playhouse.   He has designed over eighty-five productions for South Coast Repertory Theatre and shows for the Mark Taper Forum, Laguna Playhouse, International City Theatre, Opera Santa Barbara, South Bay CLO, Fullerton CLO, Sacramento Music Theatre, Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C., and the current national tour of Peter Pan featuring Cathy Rigby.   His lighting can be seen at theme parks in six different countries including Universal Studios Hollywood, Japan and Orlando; Warner Bros. Movie World Australia, Germany and Spain; Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland.  His architectural lighting can be seen at Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos, Santa Monica Place, South Coast Plaza Mall, Orange County Performing Arts Center, the Los Angeles Music Center and many other retail centers, restaurants, churches, residences and libraries. Mr. Ruzika also serves as the head of the Graduate Lighting Design Program at U.C. Irvine.

PHILIP G. ALLEN (Sound Design)

has designed over 85 theatrical shows, including Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks on Broadway, the most recent national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, The Ten Commandments starring Val Kilmer at the Kodak Theatre, Measure for Measure, Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Cinderella at the Ahmanson, The Talking Cure, Like Jazz, Big River, Flower Drum Song and First Picture Show at the Taper, and all of the past eight seasons of REPRISE!  Other design work includes Paint Your Wagon, Six Dance Lessons In Six Weeks and A'int Nothin' But the Blues at the Geffen, Play On, Only A Kingdom and Blame it on the Movies at the Pasadena Playhouse, Masada at the Shubert Theatre in LA, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Singing in the Rain for Denver's Arvada Center for the Arts, Forever Plaid and Blues in the Night at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami, The King and I, South Pacific and Into the Woods for the Long Beach Civic Light Opera.  On Broadway he assisted long time design partner Jon Gottlieb on 2001’s If You Ever Leave Me I'm Coming With You.  He served as Production Sound Engineer for Thoroughly Modern Millie at La Jolla Playhouse and was the head soundman for the national tour of Titanic.  He won the 2003 NAACP award for Sound Design for Jesus Christ Superstar, the 2001 Ovation Award for Flower Drum Song, and the 1999 LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Cinderella, as well as five LA Dramalogue Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design, and two Ovation Award nominations for Best Sound Design.
