Pippin, a remarkable, handsome and talented young prince, is a medieval hippie as well as the son of the Emperor Charlemagne in eighth Century France. Like so many young men of every era, he is seeking a life of meaning, searching for his identity and fulfillment. His quest takes him down paths that include the military, sex, revolution and domesticity; nothing seems to be the answer, but the journey is high-spirited and wildly theatrical. “Amiable and racy” is his search according to The New Yorker, as are the style and imagination of Stephen Schwartz’s fabulous contemporary score which includes the dazzling hits, “Magic To Do,” “Corner of the Sky” and “Morning Glow.” (Schwartz is also the composer of the current Broadway triumph WICKED.) One of the longest running musicals in Broadway history and the winner of four Tonys, the critics heaped over-the-moon raves on PIPPIN: “Joyous” (UPI), “splendiferous theatricality, the kick of a lightening bolt" (Time).
