STEPHEN SONDHEIM (Music and Lyrics)

one of the most influential and accomplished composer/lyricists in Broadway history, was born in New York City and raised in New York and Pennsylvania. As a teenager he met Oscar Hammerstein II, who became Sondheim's mentor. Sondheim graduated from Williams College, where he received the Hutchinson Prize for Music Composition. After graduation he studied music theory and composition with Milton Babbitt. He worked for a short time in the 1950s as a writer for the television show "Topper"; his first professional musical theatre job was as the songwriter for the unproduced musical Saturday Night. He wrote the lyrics for West Side Story (1957), Gypsy (1959), and Do I Hear A Waltz? (1965), as well as additional lyrics for Candide (1973). Musicals for which he has written both music and lyrics include A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum (1962), Anyone Can Whistle (1964), Company (1970-1971 Tony Award Music and Best Lyrics), Follies (1971-1972 Tony Award Score and New York Drama Critics Circle Award; revised in London, 1987), A Little Night Music (1973 - Tony Award Score), The Frogs (1974), Pacific Overtures (1976 - New York Drama Critics' Circle Award), Sweeney Todd (1979 - Tony Award Score), Merrily We Roll Along (1981), Sunday in the Park with George (1984 - New York Drama Critics Circle Award; 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama), Into The Woods (1987 - Tony Award Score), Assassins (1991), and Passion (1994 - Tony Award Score). He composed the songs for the television production "Evening Primrose" (1966), co-authored the film The Last of Sheila (1973), and provided incidental music for The Girls of Summer (1956), Invitation to a March (1961), and Twigs (1971). Side By Side By Sondheim (1976), Marry Me A Little (1981), You're Gonna Love Tomorrow (1983; originally presented as A Stephen Sondheim Evening) and Putting It Together (1993) are anthologies of his work. He has written scores for the films Stavisky (1974) and Reds (1981), and composed songs for the film Dick Tracy (1990 - Academy Award for Best Song). He is on the Council of the Dramatist Guild, the national association of playwrights, composers, and lyricists, having served as its president from 1973 until 1981, and in 1983 was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 1990 he was appointed the first Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre at Oxford University. He was also recipient of a Kennedy Center Honor in 1993.

JAMES LAPINE (Book)

collaborated with Stephen Sondheim on Sunday in the Park with George, a revised version of Merrily We Roll Along, and most recently, Passion. Mr. Lapine collaborated with William Finn on the musicals March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, which were later presented on Broadway as Falsettos. He has written and directed the plays Luck, Pluck, and Virtue; Twelve Dreams; Table Settings; and adapted Gertrude Stein's poem/play Photograph. He has also directed The Winter's Tale and A Midsummer Night's Dream for the New York Shakespeare Festival and directed the films Impromptu and Life With Mikey. His work has been recognized with Tony, Drama Desk Obie, and NY Drama Critics Circle awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Sunday in the Park with George.

JASON ALEXANDER (Director)

began his association with Reprise! as the star of the very first production, the hugely successful Promises, Promises. Last spring, Jason starred in and staged the hilarious fundraising production of Forbidden Broadway. All of this has served as a happy prelude to directing this productin of one of the contemporary musical theater's most glorious musicals -- Sunday in the Park with George. Among his other directorial credits: The God of Hell (Geffen Playhouse); the feature films For Better or Worse and Just Looking, episodes of "Seinfeld," "Remember Wenn," "Campus Ladies," "Everybody Hates Chris," and several commercials. As a producer, he has worked on the features Agent Cody Banks and Cody Banks, London Assignment. He also produced "Ultimate Trek, Star Trek's Greatest Moments," "Bob Patterson," and "Listen Up." While directing and producing have become great passions for him, Jason is best known for his work as an actor. On Broadway, he starred in the original companies of Merrily We Roll Along, The Rink, Broadway Bound, Accomplice, and Jerome Robbin's Broadway. For the latter, he won the Tony/Drama Desk/Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Musical Actor. He also authored the book for that show which went on to win numerous awards, including the Tony for Best Musical. Notable film roles include: Shallow Hal, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Dunston Checks In, Coneheads, White Palace, Jacobs Ladder, and Pretty Woman. For television he starred in the films "Bye Bye Birdie," "Cinderella," and "The Man Who Saved Christmas." He has been a highly sought after voice actor having provided the voice of Hugo the gargoyle in Hunchback of Notre Dame as well as the title character in the animated cult classic, "Duckman." For his nine season portrayal of George Costanza on "Seinfeld," Jason received six Emmy nominations, three Golden Globe nominations, two American Comedy Awards, two SAG awards, and was voted one of the top ten most memorable characters in TV history by the TV Guide readers poll. Jason is a writer (Dad, Are You the Tooth Fairy -- published by Scholastic), a magician (guest appearences at the Magic Castle) and a full time family man. GERALD STERNBACH (Music Director)

is now in his fifth season as musical director of Reprise! Nominated eight times in four years, he has just won the Theater LA Ovation for last season's Zorba and a Garland Award for On The Town. In addition, he has four LA Drama Critics Circle nominations; He made his LA Philharmonic debut at the Hollywood Bowl the summer of '05 as on-stage pianist for Stephen Sondheim's 75th Birthday -- The Concert, also assisting Paul Gemignani. He also assisted John Mauceri rehearsing the summer Bowl musicals The Music Man, My Fair Lady, Mame, and Camelot. Other credits: associate conductor for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Merlin, and The Tap Dance Kid (all Broadway), Les Miserables (LA premiere company), conducting the national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Song and Dance (starring Melissa Manchester). He has accompanied a wide variety of artists from Marilyn Horne, Florence Henderson, Carol Burnett, to Nancy Wilson, Donna McKechnie, John Lithgow, Kelsey Grammar, Jason Graae, and Jennifer Hudson. He has musically directed three S.T.A.G.E. benefits (Andrew Lloyd Webber, Harry Warren and Marvin Hamlisch, Comden and Green), one Actors Fund Benefit (Richard Rogers) -- each directed by David Galligan; two Les Girls Benefits (for National Breast Cancer Coalition), three WESPARK benefits (directed by Barbara Epstein), three of Sheryl Lee Ralph's Divas Simply Singing Benefits -- all star studded. As a songwriter/composer ASCAP Rising Songwriter Showcases on both coasts, Cabaret Conventions at New York's Town Hall, and the Hollywood Roosevelt's Cinegrill; music and songs (in collaboration with Lindy Robbins) performed in '93-'98 editions of thte Ringling Brothers' Circus. The musicals Heartbeats (in collaboration with Amanda McBroom), The Gay 90's -- Looking Back and Moving On, and Vampire Virgins from Venus. Gerald's song "Mary" (written in collaboration with Faye Greenberg) -- a paean to "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," was performed on the 2003 TV Land Awards show with Eric McCormack -- in the presence of the original cast of the landmark sitcom. He also has a world premiere musical in collaboration with Elin Hampton -- MOMMY, MOMMY -- the musical musical -- opening winter 2007 at the Hudson Theater, directed by Kay Cole. Jerry filmed a reality show pilot for CBS called "The Singing Office" last fall and was happily seen on stage playing piano for Carrie Fisher in her brilliant one woman show, Wishful Drinking, at the Geffen Playhouse.

BRADLEY KAYE (Scenic Design)

Past productions for Reprise! include My One and Only, On The Town, Pippin, Company, On the Twentieth Century, Anything Goes, Three Penny Opera, and Bells Are Ringing. He has been working in and around the LA theatre scene for the past decade at theatres ranging from Interact and ICT, to Tiffany and the Coronet. In addition, he has had shows open (and close) Off-Broadway, on the road, and out on the open seas. Recent ones include the now-touring A Kid's Life, Forbidden Broadway ('95-'05) in NYC, productions for Norwegian Caribbean and Disney Cruise Lines (The Golden Mickeys), plus two shows for Hollywood Bowl (Mame, Mass). As a staff Art Director for Disney Creative Development, recent shows up and running include the Jedi Training Academy and Block Party Bash for California and Florida, along with The Golden Mickeys for Hong Kong Disneyland, with his work now being seen in 4 time zones, as well as out on the open seas. Achievement in Design, along with recognitions over the years from Backstage West and others. A special thanks to Ted for making living simple the way worth living.

BETHANY JANE BOHATILA (Costume Designer)

is very happy to be working with Reprise! again. This is her sixth show with Reprise! Bethany Jane worked on the very first show for Reprise! (Promises, Promises) with Jason Alexander and is excited to be working with him again. She is also extremely happy to be designing with her good friend and co-designer Heather Carleton. They paired up this summer and have been designing their way to the top one show at a time. Sunday in the Park with George is a fabulous vehicle and a brilliant challenge. Bethany Jane wants to thank her mother (Carol) and boyfriend (Steve) for the support that makes everything possible.

HEATHER CARLETON (Costume Designer)

has found a joyful partnership with Reprise! and with co-designer Bethany Jane Bohatila. Heather began here as an associate designer for On The Town, then as costume designer for Zorba and most recently My One and Only, which was a pleasure to design. Her work with Reprise! director/choreographer Dan Mojica also led to a star spangled design for Anything Goes at Music Theatre West this past summer. Bethany Jane and Heather teamed up this fall to pull together the fantastic costumes of the National Breast Cancer Coalition's Les Girls Cabaret, which raised thousands of dollars for a wonderful cause. This design duo most recently coordinated the costumes for this year's Christmas show at the Lawrence Welk Resort San Diego. They enjoyed developing a strong conceptual design for Sunday in the Park with George with tonight's acclaimed director Jason Alexander and the talented Reprise! design team. Heather wishes to thank her husband Matt vociferously for his perpetual support of "the business of Heather."

JASON H. THOMPSON (Lighting and Projection Design)

Mr. Thompson has also worked as the assistant projection designer on several Broadway shows including Jersey Boys the Musical. Jason H. Thompson is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego, where he received an MFA in Design.

PHILIP G. ALLEN (Sound Design)

has designed over 86 theatrical shows, including Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks on Broadway; the most recent national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, The Ten Commandments starring Val Kilmer at the Kodak Theatre; Measure for Measure, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Cinderella at the Ahmanson; The Talking Cure, Like Jazz, Big River, Flower Drum Song, and First Picture Show at the Taper; and all of the past eight seasons of Reprise! Other design work includes Paint Your Wagon, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, and Ain't Nothin' But the Blues at the Geffen; Play On, Only A Kingdom and Blame it on the Movies at the Pasadena Playhouse; Masada at the Shubert Theatre in LA; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Singing in the Rain for Denver's Arvada Center for the Arts; Forever Plaid and Blues in the Night at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami; The King and I, South Pacific, and Into the Woods for the Long Beach Civic Light Opera. On Broadway he assisted long-time design partner Jon Gottlieb on 2001's If You Ever Leave Me I'm Coming With You. He served as Production Sound Engineer for Thoroughly Modern Millie at La Jolla Playhouse and was the head soundman for the national tour of Titanic. He won the 2003 NAACP award for Sound Design for Jesus Christ Superstar, the 2001 Ovation Award for Flower Drum Song, and the 1999 LA Drama Critics Circle Award for Cinderella, as well as five LA Dramalogue Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design, and two Ovation Award nominations for Best Sound Design.
